CPA Professional Program 2027
The CPA profession in Canada is updating the CPA certification program to align with Competency Map 2.0 from 2027. This includes refreshing the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP), its exams, and the practical experience requirements.
Candidates currently enrolled in CPA PEP will have an opportunity to finish the program; however, there is a transition path to the CPA Professional Program for those who are unable to complete their current program. For existing and new students this is very much essential to know in details about its impact on their study.
Comparison of change in program will be as follow.

| Practical experience: A minimum of 30 months of qualifying practical experience, inclusive of up to 5 months away from work, with demonstrated competency. Option of a pre-approved program or experience verification route. Experience can be completed at any time within the allocated program time limit. | Practical experience: A minimum of 24 months of qualifying practical experience, excluding time away from work, with demonstrated competency. All learners complete an experience plan, submitted in advance, to outline how their experience will meet the requirements. Experience must be met before eligibility into the CPA Professional Readiness module.

Therefore, it is advisable for existing students to pass out their modules at the earliest possible or at first attempt so that they have not to transit to the new program.
Last PREP program will end on OCT-Dec 2026
Last Core 1 will be in Jan-Mar 2027
Last CFE will be in Sept 2028
